TEORIAS DE ADQUICISIÓN DEL LENGUAJE / LANGUAGE ACQUISITION THEORIES

NATURALISTA

NATURALIST

It is a natural process, it is a development that arises within the self and not an imposition. It is an expansion of the natural forces that aims to personal development and the development of all the abilities of the child to achieve greater perfection.

EMPIRISTA

EMPIRISCIST

It regards the experience as the only valid source of knowledge in the senses contact with things. They are senses that, get in touch with things capture forms with which the thing impressed

RACIONALISTA

RACTIONALIST

It is the system of thought that emphasizes the role of reason in the acquisition of knowledge, in contrast to empiricism, which emphasizes the role of experience above all the sense of perception.

AMBIENTALISTA

(luz, calor, humedad).

ENVIRONMENTALIST

It is considered that the language is a capability that is acquired by environmental reinforcements

NATIVISTA

NATIVISM

Is it based on that certain abilities are 'native' or fixed in the brain from the moment of birth of a person.

COGNITIVISMO

COGNOSCITIVISM
The main objective is to discover how the mind interprets, processes and stores the information in memory. He is interested in the way the human mind thinks and learns.

Approaches, methods and techniques in the teaching of languages / Enfoques, métodos y técnicas en la enseñanza de idiomas

The Grammar Translation Method

This is the teaching method described on the previous page, also known as the Classical Method. It teaches grammar as a means to translate text from one language to the other. Grammar Translation classes are taught in the students’ native language, and students are expected to memorise long lists of vocabulary and grammar rules, and translate texts and other arbitrary sentences. There is little or no emphasis placed on developing oral abilities.

The Direct Method

This method, developed by Maximilian Berlitz around the 1880s, is based on the premise that a second language should be learned more like the first language. This is the most popular method where the teaching is done entirely in the target language, without reverting to the mother tongue (on the part of both the teacher and the student). Emphasis is placed on fluency and good pronunciation – complicated grammar rules are avoided. The teacher builds a collection of everyday vocabulary and sentences quickly without teaching grammar explicitly, teaching vocabulary through pictures, objects and miming / gestures. The idea is that the students can try and work out the grammar as they go, through imitation and partially by trial and error.

The Audio-Lingual Method

The theory behind this method is that learning a language means acquiring habits. Students practice a lot of dialogues in everyday situations. They listen to the new language first, which is then drilled before being seen in its written form. Once students have mastered a dialogue, the teacher introduces new vocabulary, which the students will then substitute for another word in the dialogue.
The Structural Approach

In this method, language is seen as a complex collection of grammatical rules which are to be learned one at a time in a specific order.

The Structural Approach

In this method, language is seen as a complex collection of grammatical rules which are to be learned one at a time in a specific order.

Suggestopedia

The theory underlying this method is that a language can be acquired only when the learner is receptive and has no mental blocks. By various methods it is suggested to the student that the language is easy - and in this way the mental blocks to learning are removed.

Suggestopedia

Total Physical Response (TPR)

TPR is particularly popular with young learners, but can also work well with adults. In this method, the student has to respond to simple commands such as "Stand up", "Close your book", "Go to the window and open it." The method stresses the importance of listening comprehension.

Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)

The focus of this method is to enable the learner to communicate effectively and appropriately in various everyday situations they may find themselves in. This method deals with functions such as inviting, suggesting, complaining, expressing time, quantity, location, etc.

Immersion

In this method, students are immersed in the English language for the whole of the school day, studying all subjects in English. This method is obviously only suitable for school / college-age students. This would be the method in which immigrant children learn the language in state schools in English-speaking countries.

Task-Based Language Learning

The focus here is on the completion of a (usually interesting) task which the students carry out in English, with little correction of errors. The tasks usually form part of a major topic that is studied for a number of weeks. Types of tasks include reading, searching the internet, listening to recorded material, producing posters, etc.

The Natural Approach

This approach stresses the similarities between the learning of first and second languages. There is no correction of mistakes and learning takes place by the students being exposed to language that is comprehensible or made comprehensible for them.

The Lexical Syllabus

This approach is based on a computer analysis of language which identifies the most common and most useful words in the language and their various uses. The syllabus normally teaches these words their order of frequency, with emphasis placed on the use of authentic materials.

VARIABLE

It is a word that represents what that varies or is subject to some kind of change. It is characterized for being unstable, changeable and inconstant. In other words, a variable is a symbol that identifies an item not specified within a particular group

TIPOS DE VARIABLES
TYPES OF VARIABLES

Variable independiente

Independent variable

An independent variable is the one whose value does not depend on the of another variable.

The variable in a function is usually represented by x.

The independent variable is represented in the horizontal axis.

 Dependent variable:

A dependent variable is the one whose values depend on those who take another variable.

The dependent variable in a function is usually represented by and.

The dependent variable is represented in neat shaft.

The variable and is a function of the variable x.

Variables estadísticas

Variable cualitativa

Variable cualitativa ordinal o variable cuasicuantitativa

Statistical variables

 Qualitative variable

The qualitative variables refer to characteristics or qualities that cannot be measured with numbers. We can distinguish two types:

Nominal qualitative variable

A qualitative, nominal variable is not numerical methods that do not support a criterion of order. For example:

Marital status, with the following modalities: single, married, separated, divorced and widowed.

Ordinal qualitative variable or variable cuasicuantitativa

An ordinal qualitative variable presents modalities not numerical, in which there is an order. For example:

The note in a review: suspense, approved, remarkable, outstanding.

Put in a sports event: 1st, 2nd, 3rd,...

A sports event medals: gold, silver and bronze.

Variable cuantitativa

Quantitative variable

A quantitative variable is which is expressed through a number, therefore it can perform arithmetic with her. We can distinguish two types:

Discrete variable

A discrete variable is one that is isolated, i.e. does not support intermediate values between two specific values. For example:

The number of siblings of friends 5: 1, 0, 1, 2, 3.

Variable continua

Continuous variable

A continuous variable is one that can take values between two numbers. For example:

The height of the 5 friends: 1.73 1.82, 1.77, 1.69, 1.75.

In practice we measure the height to two decimal places, but it could also be given to three decimal places.

Variable aleatoria

Ejemplo
k = 6, al lanzar una moneda 10 veces y obtener 6 caras.

Variable aleatoria normal

Random variable

Any function which associates to each element of the sample space is called random variable and a real number.

Used capital letters X, and... to describe random variables, and the respective case (x, and...) to designate specific values of them.

Discrete random variable

A discrete random variable is one that can only take integer values.

Examples
The number of children in a family, the score by throwing a dice.

Continuous random variable

A continuous random variable is one that can take all possible values within a certain interval of the real line.

Examples
The height of the students in a class, a battery life for hours.

Binomial random variable

The binomial random variable, X, expresses the number of successes in every test of the experiment.

The binomial variable is a discrete random variable, only it can take the values 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,..., n assuming that n tests conducted.

Example
 k = 6, toss a coin 10 times and get 6 faces.

Normal random variable

A continuous random variable, X, follows a normal distribution of mean μ and σ typical deviation, and is designated by N(μ, σ), if the following conditions are met:

1. the variable can take any value: (-∞, ∞)

2. the function of density, is the expression in terms of the Gauss curve mathematical equation.

Two-dimensional statistical variable

A two-dimensional variable is a variable in which each individual is defined by a pair of characters, (X, and).

These two characters are in turn statistical variables in which there is relationship between them, one of the two variables is the independent variable and the dependent variable.
